About

I’m a recent graduate in psychology who loves Jesus, learning, eating cereal, knitting, baking, photography, biking, music, and Spanish – and I have a confession: I have never blogged.

I’ve spent most of my university career blog-stalking as a means of procrastination, lurking the unsuspecting writer. However it never reached frightening levels until recently. After all the blogging-sphere has done for me, I feel like I should give back.

This is my giving back.

I’m not sure how this will be accomplished; I’ve merely been a spectator all these years. But I think I’ve reached a point in life where I have much to say and would like it to be heard. Whether you listen is up to you, but I hope that encouragement, laughs, new insights, something, will be found in what I post.

Read. Think. Discuss. Comment. ENJOY.

On an added note: That picture depicting a little boy walking down a dirt road is one that I hold quite dear. I captured it the summer of ’09 while in the interior of Panama. I think about Panama a lot.

    Excellent blog, Miss!

A completely random question: which school of psychology do you like best? Humanistic? Behavioral? Psychoanalytic? Gestalt? Others? Or a mix of all combined?

I would definitely say a mix of most combined. I find that behaviour cannot be explained strictly by one point of view, but with a combination of many aspects from each. I think I sway more to the cognitive-behavioural side, however.

Thanks for your question; I enjoy random ones!

    Hi Amandakait,

This is my first time on wordpress. I stumbled upon your site in my quest at finding a good blogging space for research-related topics. You have a great blog! After reading some of your posts, I have two questions: What is the name of your positive psychology textbook? and what type of camera do you use for your photoshoots?

Looking forward to reading more of your writing.

    best,

      Hi oximoxi,

Thanks! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed some of my posts so far. :)

My class’ textbook is: Peterson, C. (2006). A Primer in Positive Psychology. Oxford University Press.

You might find this surprising but all I use is an old point-and-shoot digital camera. It’s an HP Photosmart M537 with 6.0 megapixels. But I will admit that some of the photos have been edited. I use a free online editing website called picnik.com

Thanks for your interest. There should be at least one or two more positive psychology posts up in the near future as my class wraps up the semester. Stay tuned!
